Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival

Founded in 2005 by Todd Halpern, Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival is Canada’s premier wine and culinary fundraiser for medical research and innovation, and was noted by BizBash as the #3 benefit in Canada and the #1 benefit in Toronto for 2017.

Grand Cru attendees are the Who’s Who of Toronto’s corporate and philanthropic elite with influential guests from Canada and the United States. Illustrious in their respective fields, this diverse group of individuals has a passion for philanthropy.

Assembling the finest wine, gourmet cuisine and the brightest minds in medical research, Grand Cru has raised more than $29.7 million to date. Each year, proceeds raised at Grand Cru directly support scientific research and fund key program areas at Toronto General and Toronto Western Hospitals, UHN.

Festival Overview
Grand Cru consists of a two (2) day or three (3) day event depending on the year, and traditionally takes place the last Thursday/Friday and Saturday of October.

Halpern Portfolio Wine Tasting
Held biennially, this invitation only wine tasting features internationally acclaimed winemakers pouring a selection of their finest wines for Grand Cru Festival Pass holders and VIP wine enthusiasts.

Grand Cru Live Auction
Held biennially and immediately following the Halpern Portfolio Wine Tasting, a select group of guests attend the exciting and highly anticipated Live Auction which boasts approximately 35 premium auction lots and raises over 1 million dollars.

Grand Cru Exclusive Wine & Dine Experience
The Exclusive Wine & Dine Experience takes place in a number of private homes and venues. In an intimate setting, guests enjoy an exquisite menu prepared and presented by a top chef paired to wines from a world class vintner. A leading medical professional represent, UHN in each home.
