Serving on the Board since 2005, Mr. Raj Kothari is a Partner and Vice Chair of PwC Canada and member of PwC’s Extended Leadership Team. Until recently, he was PwC’s Managing Partner for Greater Toronto. His business experience spans India, the U.K. and Canada. Raj has served in a voluntary capacity on a variety of boards including Bayview Community Services, an organization for the mentally and emotionally challenged; Duke of Edinburgh Awards-Ontario, Pearson College of the Pacific and Stratford Festival of Canada. Raj was one of the founding members and directors of Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) now known as ENACTUS. He served as chair of the Board of Governors of the Stratford Festival Endowment Fund, and as President of the Indo Canadian Chamber of Commerce. Raj also served on the International Advisory Council of the Dean of Schulich Business School and on the Advisory Council of OCAD. Raj chaired the Stratford Express, the single largest fund-raising event for the Stratford Festival over three years, the fundraising campaign of the Canadian Museum of Civilization’s exhibit, “India The Living Arts”, and the Soulpepper Theatre Company fundraising galas for 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Raj recently joined the board of the Aga Khan Museum of Canada. He also serves on the board of Soulpepper Theatre Company and Ontario Arts Foundation.
Raj is an officer and Secretary of the Foundation. He served as chair of the Finance Committee and on the Audit, Investment, Nominating and Governance and Research Committees. He co-chaired the ‘Diwali – A Night to Shine’ event in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2017 which have netted approximately $2.5 million in support of various causes at UHN. Additional gifts of $5 million from Sunlife and $3 million from Raymond Chang were also announced for Diabetes and the HoPingKong Centre at these events. Raj is again chairing the Diwali – A Night to Shine Gala in 2018.
